"A slash in time"

Films: Happy Death Day (2017), Happy Death Day 2U (2019)

Alias: Lori Spengler, Dr. Gregory Butler

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: A groundhog day loop is often described as a phenomenon in fiction where someone relives the exact same scenario over and over. Imagine if that scenario was your undignified demise. You'd want out then and there. But death waits for no one, and the mystery is always going to be a doozy.

History: At Bayview University, Teresa "Tree" Gelbman is the center of attention at all times. But then she begins to relive her birthday over and over. And it always ends with her being killed by a person dressed up as the school's mascot, a baby. But who is this "Babyface Killer"? And how can the cycle be broken? Tree finds herself getting killed again and again while trying to solve her own murder. But in time, she realizes that she might have to clean up her own act in the process. Also, while the prime suspect is released serial killer John Tombs, the real one...isn't.

Notable Kills: The poisoned cupcake.

Final Fate: Tree eventually figures out that the killer is Lori, a friend of hers out for blood due to her sweetheart Dr. Gregory Butler having an affair with Tree. She released Tombs herself so that he’d be the scapegoat. Tree stuffs the poison cupcake in her mouth before chucking her off a building. However, it isn't long before Tree ends up in an alternate universe due to an incident with a homemade quantum reactor. Here, Butler is the killer this time, wanting to cover his tracks regarding his affair with a much nicer Lori. After killing him and making it back to her dimension, Tree is inquired about the reactor, but she finds a rather bad person for them to test it on thankfully.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-There is something deeply disturbing about the disguise that both killers wear. The baby face zooms into the uncanny valley, and the methods of dealing death range from standard to slow and agonizing. It doesn't help that the Babyface killer, regardless of timeline, is motivated by some utterly petty guff. But that's mad love for you.

Trivia: -The Babyface killer's getup was possibly inspired by the infamous king cake baby mascot associated with Mardi Gras. Unsurprisingly, the maker of the mascot accused the film of using the look, and even tried to sue Blumhouse for it. But honestly, could you blame the killer for looking like that?! If anything, the actual mascot is more deeply disturbing than the masked murderer.

-Originally, Michael Bay was slated to do this film, with Megan Fox as Tree. We shudder to imagine how Bay would have degraded her once again. Seriously, we're grateful beyond words that Fox will not work with that creep.
